Trip or Stumble

You may trip or stumble, but get up and try again.

Read: Proverbs 24:16

The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.

But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.

Stay Steady

Don’t be glad when your enemy falls. Stay steady.

Read: Proverbs 24:17-18

Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;

don’t be happy when they stumble.

18 For the Lord will be displeased with you

and will turn his anger away from them.

The Right Way

Don’t appoint yourself as a leader. Wait and let it happen the right way.

Read: I Kings 1:5, 32-35

About that time David’s son Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, began boasting, “I will make myself king.” So he provided himself with chariots and charioteers and recruited fifty men to run in front of him.

Then King David ordered, “Call Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” When they came into the king’s presence, 33 the king said to them, “Take Solomon and my officials down to Gihon Spring. Solomon is to ride on my own mule. 34 There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him king over Israel. Blow the ram’s horn and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’ 35 Then escort him back here, and he will sit on my throne. He will succeed me as king, for I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah.

Friends

Be loyal and choose friends with integrity and courage who are willing to stand by you in difficult times.

Read: 2 Samuel 23:15-17

David remarked longingly to his men, “Oh, how I would love some of that good water from the well by the gate in Bethlehem.” 16 So the Three broke through the Philistine lines, drew some water from the well by the gate in Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out as an offering to the Lord. 17 “The Lord forbid that I should drink this!” he exclaimed. “This water is as precious as the blood of these men[a] who risked their lives to bring it to me.” So David did not drink it. These are examples of the exploits of the Three.

Be Sure

Listening is an art but be sure as you listen that you are listening to wisdom.

Read: Proverbs 2:1-2

My child,[a] listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2
Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.

Giving

God loves to give because God loves to give.

Read: 2 Samuel 7:20-21

20 “What more can I say to you? You know what your servant is really like, Sovereign Lord. 21 Because of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known to your servant.

Not Smart

In the long run, no success story comes from disobeying God.

Read: Proverbs 1:30-33

30
They rejected my advice
and paid no attention when I corrected them.
31
Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way,
choking on their own schemes.
32
For simpletons turn away from me—to death.
Fools are destroyed by their own complacency.
33
But all who listen to me will live in peace,
untroubled by fear of harm.”

Jealousy

It is a big and sad mistake to become jealous of what others have and of what others have done.

Read: I Samuel 18:7-9

7 This was their song:
“Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!”
8 This made Saul very angry. “What’s this?” he said. “They credit David with ten thousands and me with only thousands. Next they’ll be making him their king!” 9 So from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

Growing Up

God has given each of us a special ability. As you continue to grow in Him, He will use you more.

Read: Judges 13:24-25 and Luke 2:52
When her son was born, she named him Samson. And the Lord blessed him as he grew up. 25 And the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him while he lived in Mahaneh-dan, which is located between the towns of Zorah and Eshtaol.

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.

Pride

If you are judgmental, if you can’t be corrected, if you have an opinion about everything and do not consider anyone else, you are 10 out of 10 times operating in pride. Pride always comes before the fall so be careful. It’s okay to change.

Read: James 4:6 , Proverbs 11:2 and Proverbs 16:18

6  And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,

“God opposes the proud

but gives grace to the humble.”

2  Pride leads to disgrace,

   but with humility comes wisdom.

18 Pride goes before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.
