Focus

Knowing you have learned the lessons that are now behind you, move forward!
It is time to focus on the future looking ahead and not behind.

Read: Philippians 3:13-14

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
but God remains the strength of my heart;
he is mine forever.

The Right Path

When wondering what to do, let the Lord guide you. That is the right path to take.

Read: Psalm 32:8-9

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.

Do It

When you have prayed and are stirred in your heart to do something, give feet to your prayer and build your wall. Ask the Lord for all you need to complete the task.

Read: Nehemiah 1:11 through 2:8

11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me.[a] Put it into his heart to be kind to me.”

In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer.

Nehemiah Goes to Jerusalem
2 Early the following spring, in the month of Nisan,[b] during the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes’ reign, I was serving the king his wine. I had never before appeared sad in his presence. 2 So the king asked me, “Why are you looking so sad? You don’t look sick to me. You must be deeply troubled.”

Then I was terrified, 3 but I replied, “Long live the king! How can I not be sad? For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.”

4 The king asked, “Well, how can I help you?”

With a prayer to the God of heaven, 5 I replied, “If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.”

6 The king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked, “How long will you be gone? When will you return?” After I told him how long I would be gone, the king agreed to my request.

7 I also said to the king, “If it please the king, let me have letters addressed to the governors of the province west of the Euphrates River,[c] instructing them to let me travel safely through their territories on my way to Judah. 8 And please give me a letter addressed to Asaph, the manager of the king’s forest, instructing him to give me timber. I will need it to make beams for the gates of the Temple fortress, for the city walls, and for a house for myself.” And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me.

Read: Proverbs 21:3

The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices.

Call Him

God has limitless resources. He has all the power to help in any situation. Call out to Him.

Read: Psalms 30:2-3

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you restored my health.
3 You brought me up from the grave,[a] O Lord.
You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

Listen

The voice of God is both loud and still. A whisper or a shout. He speaks through many things and we must learn to listen and obey.

Read: Psalms 29:3-5,9

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea.
The God of glory thunders.
The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
5 The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars;
the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
