His Children

God disciplines his children in love.

Read: Hebrews 12:5-7

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said,

“My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t give up when he corrects you.
6 For the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”[c]

7 As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

Until Its Done

Never give up. Hang in there just like Jesus did. Stay until it’s done!

Read: John 19:30

A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Holiness

You don’t have to be like the world to impact the world. Holiness doesn’t seek to be odd it seeks to be like God.

Read: James 4:4

You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

The Journey

God never said the journey would be easy. He did say the burden would be light. In Him, we win.

Read: 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Weights

Are guilt, worry, fear or hopelessness weighing you down? Give it all to God. Drop those weights and move forward.

Read: I Peter 5:7

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Older

Don’t concern yourself with the graying of your hair, growing older or age. The older the better your life becomes in the Lord. Your later days are better.

Read: Isaiah 46:4

I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you.

Today

Today let’s bless and praise the one who created all things including us.

Read: Colossians 1:16

for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.

World’s Wisdom

The wisdom of the world says I will get what I want at your expense. This wisdom is foolish.

Read: I Corinthians 3:19

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say,

“He traps the wise
in the snare of their own cleverness.”

Self Obsession

When no one cares about what God wants, humanity implodes. God is not pleased with being ignored.

Read: Romans 8:8 Isaiah 45:18, Romans 1:21-24

those who think they can do it on their own end up obsessed with measuring their own moral muscle but never get around to exercising it in real life. Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them—living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.

For the Lord is God,
and he created the heavens and earth
and put everything in place.
He made the world to be lived in,
not to be a place of empty chaos.
“I am the Lord,” he says,
“and there is no other.

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.

Patience

Patience is keeping the flame low, and giving others a chance to grow. That’s love too!

Read: I Corinthians 13:4

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.
